Strawberry + yogurt + champagne = LOVE!

It's Pikachu's birthday today! I think I've shared with you before that his birthday is the same as mine. As can be seen in the picture below, he couldn't wait to try the snowskin mooncakes of four different flavours from Marina Bay Sands for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

The mooncakes can be purchased from SweetSpot at the lobby of Tower 3. The pink-coloured box that looks like a ladies' handbag features two snowskin mooncakes of each of the four flavours: Strawberry Yogurt Champagne, Salted Caramel, Passion Mango Yogurt and Japanese Sweet Potato.

Strawberry Yogurt Champagne

Taste: 9/10

My most favourite flavour would be the marriage between yogurt and strawberry with its sweet and sour profile, locked in green bean paste. Besides the tangy strawberry bits, I also relished the champagne truffle that gave a decadent alcoholic tang. The snowskin dough was enjoyably chewy.

Salted Caramel

Taste: 8.5/10

Who doesn't love salted caramel? Not me, of course. First of all, the paste made of green beans, chocolate and caramel was smooth enough for my liking, not to mention the added crunch provided by the almond slices. The salted caramel truffle, without doubt, was the bomb.

Passion Mango Yogurt

Taste: 8/10

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm of the opinion that the paste was made of yogurt and passion fruit only, while the mango manifested itself in the bits that were not so evenly distributed inside. Anyway, the sweetness of the paste was balanced by the mildly sour mango bits.

Japanese Sweet Potato

Taste: 8/10

The moment I saw that they used sweet potatoes from Okinawa, my mind immediately thought of the purple variant. I was a bit sad to discover that the filling wasn't actually purple, but the paste studded with Japanese red beans was tantalising enough. It could be more velvety though.

Taste: 8.5/10

It certainly wasn't a mistake to order mooncakes from Marina Bay Sands. Pikachu was truly pleased to have them for his birthday. Pika's advice: There's still time to buy some till 24 September 2018. Take note that Sands Rewards members and Citibank card holders enjoy discounts.
