AZE: Azerbaijan Airlines J2 75 (Economy)
Eat breakfast like a king, even in Economy Class!
The time for my BFF and I to leave Azerbaijan finally came. Once again, we flew with the country's flag carrier to Istanbul, Turkey before we took the long route home. We've seen in the previous post on the generous lunch serving onboard J2 76. What about breakfast, you ask? The proof is in the picture below.
My chubby Pikachu was stuck, but he managed to have his breakfast anyway.
Mint
Just like in the previous flight, each passenger was offered a mint after take-off. Does mint stimulate one's appetite?
J2 Meal
Cold Appetiser
Sitting on iceberg lettuce were two slices each of chicken and beef ham. There was also a black olive on the plate.
Chocolate and Banana Crêpes - Taste: 7/10
The thin pancakes might not look so appetising, but they turned out to be sturdy and fluffy alright. There was an adequate amount of chocolate sauce in between the layer, as well as banana slices that weren't too soggy.
English Breakfast - Taste: 5/10
I'm fine with instant scrambled eggs, but I've had more appetising ones than those presented onboard that morning. Accompanying the pale-looking eggs were a piece of round hash brown, two chicken sausages and a small serving of baked beans in tomato sauce.
Bread & Pastry
In addition to the pre-packed slice of bread, there were a peach danish and a croissant that was actually pretty buttery, but not crispy at all as it wasn't toasted before serving. They came with unsalted butter and apricot jam.
Others
A wedge of cheese and canned fruit cocktails, anyone? Anyway, packets of salt-free roasted hazelnuts were distributed after the trays had been cleared.
Beverages
I started with a cup of tomato juice, something that I can only bring myself to drink above the skies, to quench my thirst. Afterwards, for a change, I had a cup of tea instead of coffee, which was potent enough for my liking, partly because I wanted to have Turkish coffee inside the Turkish Airlines Business Lounge at Istanbul Airport.
Melon's Rating
Taste: 6/10
Ambience: 6/10Service: 6.5/10
Overall: 6/10
Perhaps fresh fruits were offered to Business Class passengers. Pika's advice: The website states that for international flights longer than 150 minutes, "in addition to hot meals, you can also order tea or coffee in unlimited quantities throughout the flight."
