Decadent chocolate cake for dessert!
As mentioned in the previous post on Turkish Airlines Lounge @ Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, Kenya, my BFF and I weren't going to fly with the flag carrier of Turkey. Instead, we flew with Etihad Airways to its hub, Abu Dhabi International Airport, in the UAE.
Melon was so hungry that she didn't even look at the camera when the above photo was taken.
EY Meal
Orzo and Green Pea Pasta - Taste: 7.5/10
The pasta shaped like large grains of rice mixed with green peas were enjoyably bouncy. They were mixed with presumably canned green peas, which were certainly better than frozen ones.
Middle Eastern Lamb with Rice - Taste: 7/10
Though not captivating in terms of appearance, the lamb cooked with ladyfingers were adequately flavourful. Being just a little bit spicy, the dish came with dual-coloured long-grain rice that was fluffy enough.
Braised Chicken with Potatoes - Taste: 8/10
Two medium-sized chicken chunks were presented with a sizeable amount of potato cubes, sautéed mushrooms and vegetables. Not only was the white meat tender, it also retained its natural juice that kept it moist.
Chocolate Opera Cake - Taste: 8/10
Who'd say no to a decadent chocolate cake at the end of the meal? I wasn't expecting much at first, but I was certainly glad that the richness of the chocolate was there. Moreover, it wasn't too sweet.
Bread
The pillow-shaped bread had a somewhat soft texture.
Beverages
I had a taste of the red wine, which was a tad too dry for my liking. After the tray had been cleared, I requested for a cup of coffee, which turned out to be rather dilute and not that fragrant.

Overall: 7/10
I'll write about another Eithad Airways meal in the near future. Pika's advice: The third main course option from the standard menu is devoid of meat. However, if you need a vegetarian meal, it's always best to pre-order before your flight.
