SIN: Tempura Tenten

Relatively cheap 'tendon' with items like bacon and chicken ball~

The undying craze over tendon, which is a rice dish topped with tempura (Japanese battered and deep-fried assortments), has resulted in more eateries jumping on the bandwagon to satiate customers' cravings. Besides tendon, Tempura Tenten at Raffles City Shopping Mall also serves a variety of ramen.

The eatery doesn't serve any dessert items.

Unatendon S$19.80
Taste: 7.5/10

For those who love both unagi (Japanese freshwater eel) and tempura, I'm sure you won't take long to decide what to have. While I felt that ther ewasn't enough of the sweet sauce, the eel was adequately fresh with a nice char. As for the tempura items, there were prawn, bacon, chicken ball with cheese, seaweed, mushroom, pumpkin and long bean. The dish came with miso (Japanese fermented rice, barley and/or soybean) soup and pickled vegetable. Pika's advice: For some kick on the tongue, you may want to request for spicy sauce.

Special Roasted Miso Ramen S$15.80
Taste: 7/10

The soupy noodle dish was decent. I couldn't find any faults with the noodle that was springy enough for my liking, which was swimming in a mildly flavourful broth. It was topped with pork belly slices, braised lava egg, bamboo shoots, corns, spring onions and seaweed.

Ramen & Chashu Rice Set +S$3.50
Taste: 7/10

Priced at S$6.00 when ordered a la carte, the braised pork belly rice wasn't bad either as it was flavourful enough. The meat could be juicier though, and I'd certainly love to have more chopped spring onions on top of it.

Melon's Rating

The eatery used to serve truffle rice, but not anymore.
