CAN: The Templeton

The best pulled pork quesadilla I've ever had thus far!

It's been a long time since I went to a typical North American diner. To relive the long lost experience, I went to The Templeton for a quick dinner with my BFF. The old-school diner is located along the busy Granville Street in the entertainment district of Vancouver, Canada.

The Templeton prides itself in serving all-day breakfast dishes with natural ingredients from local farms, including free-run, non-medicated eggs.

Huevos Rancheros C$12.50 (~S$13.00)
Taste: 7.5/10

The diner's take on a traditional mid-morning fare of rural Mexican farms was pretty fulfilling. The black beans and eggs scrambled with green peppers and onions on top of flour tortilla went well with fresh tomato salsa and sour cream. I also enjoyed the rosemary potatoes that were fragrant.

Pulled Pork Quesadilla C$12.00 (~S$12.45)
Quesadilla - Taste: 9/10
Lentil Soup Taste: 8/10

I was blown away by the dynamite combination of melted cheese and slow-roasted pulled pork marinated with BBQ sauce that was really succulent and flavourful. The Sriracha mayonnaise brought it one level up with its tangy flavour. For the complimentary side, we went for the soup of the day: lentil soup that was hearty with clean, mild sweetness.

Homemade Rhubarb Pie C$6.00 (~S$6.25)
Taste: 7.5/10

The diner whips up pies of different flavours that are rotated on a daily basis. We decided to share a rhubarb pie that was refreshingly sour. The crust could be crumblier and more buttery, but it wasn't too shabby. Anyway, is it just me or did the pie with the two heaps of whipped cream look like a moose? Pika's advice: You may want to add a scoop of ice cream to your pie for just C$1.00 (~S$1.05).
