SIN: Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill
Virgin experience with chicken 'chimichanga'!
Having stood the test of time since 1999, Santa Fe Tex-Mex Grill continues to serve Texan-Mexican cuisine. Used to be operating in one of the shophouses along Boat Quay, it's currently housed in the main deck of Stewords Riverboat at Marina South Pier. Enjoy your meal on a wooden table with old-school songs in the background.
At the point of writing, its lease at Marina South Pier is due to expire soon and it'll need to relocate elsewhere.

Chicken Chimichanga S$11.00
Taste: 8/10
What I'd intended to have as an appetiser happened to arrive at the table after the two main courses. The bite-sized deep-fried rolled tortillas filled with diced chicken, black beans, spinach and cheese were delish. A dollop of avocado ranch dressing topped with a bit of tomato salsa was provided on the side.
Original BBQ Baby Back Ribs (Half) S$24.00
Taste: 8.5/10
From the grill, I ordered the half slab baby back ribs that were fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy. They were brushed with homemade BBQ sauce that wasn't only delectably sweet and smoky, but also thick and sticky. The fries were crispy, but the lettuce could be fresher.
Blackened Salmon Veracruz S$26.00
Taste: 8/10
Another signature main course that I sampled was the pan-fried salmon fillet coated with crusted black pepper. Succulent enough for my liking, it was topped with guacamole (Mexican avocado dip), which I thought was rather lacklustre in terms of the flavours. The spicy rice and sautéed mixed vegetables were tasty.
Apple Crumble S$8.00
Taste: 7/10
Served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that didn't melt easily, the apple crumble turned out to be the weakest dish that evening. The crumbs were crunchy and buttery. The filling, however, wasn't as good as expected as the apples weren't that sweet or sour.

I sincerely hope it'll be able to find a suitable berthing place soon. Pika's advice: Take note that the restaurant offers free return shuttle service on weekdays from 11.30am to 3.30pm for groups of up to 9 guests.
