CAN: Miku

Image
Deliciously innovative Japanese cuisine by chef Kazuya Matsuoka! Overlooking the scenic Vancouver waterfront, Miku has been attracting a huge crowd of locals and foreigners alike since its inception in 2008. The lunch menu features mouth-watering dishes that aren't too exorbitant, yet not compromising on the quality of the ingredients used.

CAN: Samesun Vancouver [Breakfast]

Image
Virgin experience with cheese and jalapeno bagel! Samesun Vancouver (3*) is a vibrant hostel offering bunk beds and private rooms, where my BFF and I stayed for 3D2N before we left for Jasper by train. Simple buffet breakfast is served daily at the hostel, though only for two hours starting from 7.30am, which some may consider rather late.

CAN: The Templeton

Image
The best pulled pork quesadilla I've ever had thus far! It's been a long time since I went to a typical North American diner. To relive the long lost experience, I went to The Templeton for a quick dinner with my BFF. The old-school diner is located along the busy Granville Street in the entertainment district of Vancouver, Canada.

CAN: Sharky's Chophouse

Image
Satisfy your sharky carnivorous craving! Lynn Canyon Park is one of the places that my BFF and I planned to visit when we were in Vancouver, Canada. Before taking a bus from Lonsdale Quay to go to the park, we had a fulfilling lunch at Sharky's Chophouse, a highly rated butcher shop serving value-for-money meals.

CAN: Phnom Penh Restaurant

Image
Delicious butter beer... I mean butter beef! Phnom Penh Restaurant is a renowned Cambodian-Vietnamese eatery in Vancouver, Canada that has bagged multiple recognitions from the annual Golden Plates awards. The restaurant even gives a heads-up in the website to "expect a long wait, followed by a fantastic meal".

CAN: Japadog

Image
"Making the world happy and alive through hot dogs!" Owned by Noriki Tamura and his wife who moved from Japan to Vancouver, Canada in 2005, Japadog had its humble beginning as a roadside stand specialising in hot dogs with Japanese flavours. Fast forward to now, there are multiple hot dog carts and a store in Metro Vancouver.

CAN: Salmon n' Bannock

Image
First experience with First Nations-inspired cuisine! For the uninitiated, the First Nations are the predominant indigenous people in Canada. At the point of writing, Salmon n' Bannock is the only restaurant specialising in indigenous cuisine in Vancouver. Despite the modern touch in its dishes, it sticks to using traditional ingredients from First Nations-run businesses.

CAN: Prospect Point Bar & Grill

Image
Delectable salmon glazed with 'hoisin' sauce! My first long walk in Vancouver, Canada was at the expansive Stanley Park. Out of the few eateries spread throughout the park, my BFF and I decided to have a late lunch at Prospect Point Bar & Grill, which is located at the northern end overlooking Lions Gate Bridge.

CAN: Ramada Limited Vancouver Airport [Breakfast]

Image
Akin to McDonald's breakfast, but free flow! My BFF and I spent three nights at Ramada Limited Vancouver Airport (2*), which provides free shuttle service to and from the nearby Sea Island where Vancouver International Airport stands. Let's have a look at the selection of the simple buffet breakfast.

CAN: Richmond Night Market

Image
Uber fresh BBQ squid with tantalising spiciness! Call me Asian, but the first major attraction that I went to in Metro Vancouver, Canada was Richmond Night Market. I've been to awesome night markets in Taiwan, but I still made it a point to drop by the largest night market in North America that operates only during summer.

HKG: Cathay Pacific CX810 (Business)

Image
Brunch was more appetising than dinner~ I was undeniably excited about the idea of flying with Cathay Pacific in the Business Class cabin for about 12 hours to Vancouver, Canada from Hong Kong. The airline has revamped its long-haul Business Class dining concept, progressively rolling it out on various destinations since July 2018.

HKG: The Bridge @ Hong Kong International Airport

Image
Sugar rush with decadent dessert! During our layover in Hong Kong, my BFF and I'd initially decided to spend our time at Cathay Pacific's The Wing. However, it turned out to be really crowded. As there were almost no seats available, we decided to go to The Bridge instead near Gate 35. We sampled some of the food items offered at the lounge.

VIE: Vietnam Airlines VN592 (Business)

Image
A cheesecake that didn't taste like one... After enjoying my breakfast at Song Hong Business Lounge , I was getting myself ready for lunch onboard Vietnam Airlines VN592 bound for Hong Kong. That was my second time flying in the Business Class cabin of Vietnam Airlines' Airbus 321-200, the first time being onboard  VN661  in late 2015.
