SIN: Erwin's Gastrobar
Classic main courses done right!
Named after the Italian founder's grandfather, Ervino Breitner, Erwin's Gastrobar is inspired by bars and cafés of Italian origins that can be found in financial districts of New York City, the USA. It seems to be a pretty popular place for those working in the CBD area to unwind after a hard day at work.
I'll let you in on a little secret. If you only see one dish in the cover photo of my food blog, most likely the dishes came quite slowly one after another.

Mushroom Croquettes S$8.00
Taste: 7/10
Though I didn't order a glass of beer since I'm not a fan of it, I tried something under the beer bites category. The mini mushroom croquettes came with a side of garlic aioli that was creamy and garlicky enough.
The classic burger was executed well. The chargrilled beef patty was tender and juicy, topped with a slice of cheese and coleslaw that wasn't too heavy on the palate. The burger bun was just a tad dry though. Served on the side were fresh mesclun salad and fries.
Inside each of the crunchy balls was a somewhat creamy mushroom filling. Think of jellified cream of mushroom soup. Pika's advice: If those are too vegetarian for you, you may want to try the Crab and Cheese Croquettes instead. A portion is priced at S$9.50.
Carbonara S$16.00
Taste: 8.5/10
I was satisfied with the pasta main course. Much to my delight, I found the homemade linguine, which was cooked till al dente, to be slightly broader than factory-made ones. The creamy parmesan sauce was rich, but not cloying. It'd be great if there were some mushrooms to accompany the bacon.
Beef Burger S$19.00
Taste: 8/10
Madeleine S$5.00
Taste: 8/10
Baked to order for approximately 15 minutes, the butter cake originating from France turned out to be delectable. Dusted with castor sugar, the cake was pretty light and airy. The lemon curd was refreshingly sour, though I was hoping that it'd be slightly sweeter for a more balanced taste.

Taste: 8/10
Ambience: 7.5/10
Service: 6/10
Overall: 7.5/10
I recall seeing only one server that evening, so despite the fact that the place wasn't brimming with guests, service was somewhat slow. The mushroom croquettes actually came later than the two main courses.
