SIN: Spagtacular
Not that spectactular afterall...
Situated along South Bridge Road opposite The Law Society of Singapore, Spagtacular is a new eatery that has opened its doors since the third quarter of 2018. Besides whipping up pasta dishes, it also offers a small selection of pizzas and other main courses.
I didn't have a good impression of the eatery upon knowing that some of the dishes weren't available, including all dessert items and hot drinks.

Har Cheong Kai Nibblet S$10.00
Taste: 8/10
The best item was the deep-fried chicken chunks flavoured with shrimp paste, which were topped with a bit of parmesan cheese. They came with a cheap variety of chili sauce. I also have to mention that the side dish came very, very late after reminding one of the servers twice.
The Golden Egg S$12.00
Taste: 5.5/10
Considering that the eatery specialises in pasta dishes, it was a pity that the spaghetti wasn't cooked well as it was still rather hard. The salted egg sauce wasn't as rich as expected, while the chicken chunks were adequately tender. The dish came with a topping of deep-fried chicken skin.
Mummy's Assam S$15.00
Taste: 6/10
While I felt that the taste was sour and savoury enough for my liking, the pasta wasn't that moist. The deep-fried dory fish fillet was probably the thinnest I've ever had in my life, so thin that I could barely taste the fish. To be fair, it was seasoned well, crunchy and not oily.
Traditional Aglio Olio (Add Prawns) S$13.00 + 3.00
Taste: 6.5/10
Compared to the other two, the aglio olio spaghetti was the most appetising. It was by no means traditional though, for it was topped with hae bee hiam (Peranakan spicy dried shrimps). I decided to add prawns to the pasta, which turned out to be so small. They could be more succulent too.

Taste: 6.5/10
Ambience: 7/10
Service: 2/10
Overall: 5/10
It was ridiculous that my friends and I were at the eatery for close two hours, most of which were spent waiting for the food to arrive when there were only three other tables occupied. I'm usually quite patient, but my experience at Spagtacular was exasperating. Pika's advice: I remember seeing in the menu booklet that there's an option to have homemade pasta instead of factory-made ones for an additional small sum of money, but I'm not too sure if it's still available. You may want to check it out.
