SIN: Tenderfresh Classic

Spring chicken with yellow-coloured chicken rice!

The Tenderfresh Group manages quite a variety of brands offering affordable food and drinks. Tenderfresh Classic was born out of the intent to showcase the best of the different brands, such as fried and roasted chicken, classic Western food, as well as fusion pasta dishes.

Does the chicken look appetising to you?

Onion Blossom S$6.90
Taste: 8/10

I couldn't resist the temptation of a large onion cut to resemble a blooming flower before being battered and deep-fried. Lightly seasoned with salt, it was naturally sweet without being greasy. The accompanying mayonnaise was a tad too sweet for my liking though.

Fried Chicken Chop with Salted Egg Spaghetti S$10.90
Taste: 7.5/10

The fusion pasta dish that I ordered that evening was spaghetti doused with salted egg sauce, which I felt could be creamier and stronger in terms of taste. Nevertheless, it was quite aromatic due to the presence of curry leaves. The deep-fried chicken chop was crispy.

Roasted Half Spring Chicken S$10.90
Taste: 8/10

Having glistening skin, the roasted chicken was succulent. It was sitting on top of a bed of yellow rice described as "fragrant chicken rice" in the menu booklet, although it could definitely be more fragrant. Served on the side was a portion of coleslaw that was adequately fresh.

Lavender with White Chrysanthemum S$4.90
Taste: 7/10

Instead of sampling one of the dessert items, I went for one of the mocktails. I felt a bit disappointed to see that they were pretty stingy with the amount of lavender syrup at the bottom of the glass, but anyway, the white chrysanthemum tea with soda was refreshing enough.

Melon's Rating
Taste: 7.5/10
Ambience: 6.5/10
Overall: 7/10

The first time I tried Tenderfresh Classic was at OneKM, but that branch has closed down. Pika's advice: You may be interested to try their Ayam Masak Merah Chop Rice that has got the Sedap! (lit. delicious) logo in the menu booklet. It's priced at S$8.90.
